It is common to have tummy fat after you have a baby, and it is often very hard to get rid of. If it has been a year for you, there are many things you can do to help you slim down. Keep reading to learn about two procedures that you can have done to take care of this problem.
Get a Tummy Tuck
One quick way to slim down is to get a tummy tuck by a plastic surgeon. You should only do this, however, if you do not want to have another baby. If you do, then wait until you have your last baby to get this surgery.
There are two different types of tummy tucks you have to choose from. One is a complete abdominoplasty. With this, your surgeon makes a cut from hipbone to hipbone on your abdomen. They then contour the muscles, tissue, and skin. Your belly button will have to be moved also. You will have to stay in the hospital for at least one night after this procedure.
There is also a mini-abdominoplasty. The doctor will choose this type if most of your fat is below your belly button. With this, the surgeon will make a much smaller cut and your belly button will stay in place. Depending on your specific case, this may take around two hours to complete.
Another option you have is liposuction, which is also done by a plastic surgeon. To do this surgery, the doctor will use anesthesia to put you under while they are doing the procedure.
The doctor will make a small incision on your belly and then insert a laser into the incision. The laser liquefies the fat deposits. Once this is done the doctor removes the laser and then inserts another instrument into the incision that will suck the liquefied fat out of your belly. This will be done in different areas of your tummy to get all the fat out. When the laser is inside of you it is heated and helps firm your skin.
This procedure takes one or more hours depending on how much fat is removed. You can go home the same day in most cases. While you are at the doctor's office, they can remove fat from other areas of your body if you desire. This can be from your upper arms, calves, chest, back, and buttocks.
A plastic surgeon can give you much more information about both tummy tucks and liposuction to help you decide the procedure you would like to have done.
